Snaps

Pros:

  • Hold up well after repeated washing and drying
  • Easy to remove and wash soiled diaper
  • Baby can’t remove them

Cons:

  • Take some getting used to
  • Don’t need to be replaced over time
  • Hard to put on a squirmy baby
  • Not as easy to get a custom fit
Aplix/Velcro aka Hook and Loop

Pros:

  • Very easy to put on
  • Can get a good custom fit
  • Great for night time

Cons:

  • Don’t hold up as well after repeated washing and drying
  • Lose their grip over time and need to be replaced
  • Not as easy to remove since they need to be reattached to wash tabs
  • Can get caught on other diapers in the wash and cause pilling and extra wear
  • Baby can remove them easily
Closure-less (fitted diapers only and still require a cover)

Pros:

  • Hold up well after repeated washing and drying
  • Easy to remove and wash soiled diapers
  • Can get a good custom fit

Cons:

  • Require pins or a snappi
  • Take some getting used to
  • Harder to put on a squirmy baby
